Rebecca Campbell has served as Executive Director of the Austin Film Society since
1998. During her 16-year tenure, the AFS has expanded its nationally recognized exhibition programs, presenting 16+ films per month; broadened its artist services
programs, including the AFS Grant, which provides $100,000+ each year to Texas-based independent filmmakers; created Austin Studios, a 20-acre film production facility with 60+ long- and short-term tenants; founded the Texas Film Hall of Fame; and established a community outreach and education initiative involving paid internships and summer youth camps, as well as ongoing after-school filmmaking programs in 18 Austin schools in economically disadvantaged areas.

Before coming to the AFS, Ms. Campbell spent 12 years serving as Executive Director of two statewide California non-profit organizations. She holds an MFA in Video and Film Production from The University of Texas at Austin. Her position managing the Austin Film Society allows her to put her film and nonprofit background to work on AFS’s mission to make Austin synonymous with great film, and to empower community members throughout Austin to MAKE, WATCH and LOVE film.
